have a home in my name but I have never lived in it. I have never had a mortgage either. Would I qualify for the 8k credit?
Hi jngarcia!
Welcome to forums!
You won't qualify for the 8k tax credit as you are an owner of the property. This tax credit is available to people who are first time homebuyers (i.e those who haven't owned a property in the past 3 years). You will not be considered as a first time homebuyer.
Feel free to ask if you have further queries.

Yes you will not qualify as you do have to own the house and it has to be your first within the last 3 years.
Jngarcia for any one to qulify for the tax credit of 8K, you shoudl not have owned a house in the last three years. It has nothign to do with if you were on the mortgage or not. As long as your name is on the deed then you are a home owner or an investor, if you do not live in that house.
