Hi there… I need suggestions! We decided to rent a property. Accordingly, we signed a contract and also paid rental payment of 3 months in full to our landlady. Now she is backing out of the deal saying that she cannot move out of the property. She gave back some of the payments and has said that she will give the rest later on. We had to spend $700 more to search for a new house. Can we bring her to the court for backing out of the contract and the money?
Hi Gissy,
It's very strange that the landlady is backing out of the deal now when you have signed the contract and even paid 3 months payments!
Yes, as far as I know, you can definitely bring her to the court to recover your dues. Contact a real estate attorney and he will help you in this matter further.
Take care

Hi Gissy!
Welcome to the forums!
As far as I can understand, you can definitely take her to the small claims court in order to recover your dues. As Sara has suggested, you can contact a real estate attorney and take his opinion in this matter as well.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
