I need help for my mother. My mom went to file her taxes. She claimed her granddaughter. She is the main source of income for the child. Later on we when we returned home, we were informed that the baby’s step dad had already claimed the baby as a dependent. Will this affect my mom’s tax refund? The dad filed and received his refund before my mom. Will this affect her tax refund? Help. My mother can not afford a delay in receiving her refund!
Your mother Federal Tax Form may get rejected. It will be better if she could go back to the HRB immediately. The HRB will immediately tell her what her options her.
Hi Biboni,
It will be better if you could get in touch with a tax adviser and take his opinion in this regard.
