We found out that our tax consultant has been filing both my wife and I as single for the past 3 years while we have actually been married. At some point we are going to work on getting this corrected but are about to apply for a mortgage and wanted to find out if this is going to be an issue with the lender. Will they notice or care about this?
Neither of us are self employed and both have immaculate credit histories and scores and make plenty of money to qualify so there isnt a reason for them to ask for tax returns but if they do will this issue be scrutinized?
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated!

If you're not self employed, you can probably get away with just providing W'2s. They will execute a 4506T to verify the income you provide but, you should be alright.
