Well, I received a “wages in lieu of noticeâ€. What does it actually mean?
Hi Guest,
Wages in lieu of notice are wages that are paid or are payable by an employer to a concerned employee. There will be an employment agreement, a statutory requirement or a uniformly applied company policy that requires the employer to give the employee a definite period of notice before a lay off or separation.
Thanks,
Jerry

Hi Guest!
Welcome to the forums!
During the period of notice, the employer is required to pay the employee a sum equal to his regular wages. If not that, then an amount computed in accordance with a formula which is based on the employee's past earnings.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
