I am trying to purchase properties but my husband will not sign an interspousal deed. We live in a community property state (California). How can I go about purchasing properties without including him on all the paperwork? Can I have my father/mother or sibling make the purchase in their name and then add my name to the deed? Will that work?
Hi soniasarsam,
As it is a community property state, if you purchase any property, your husband will have ownership rights to it though you include your parents or siblings. You should convince your husband to sign an interspousal transfer deed and then purchase a property in your name.
Thanks
