What can I do if a Deed of Reconveyance was not filed?

i'm at my wit's end in california. i'm trying to get a copy of a deed of reconveyance for a loan that was paid off in 2003. i'm trying to refinance and recently discovered that the county recorder has no reconveyance filed. i contacted bank of america on 11/22/10 since they held the mortgage that was paid off. i've been given the run around since my initial request. i've never spoke to the same person, have been given 3 different request numbers, was told because it was an inactive they had to "pull the file," was finally told on 1/4/11 that they needed a copy of the title search, which i faxed on 1/5. i never get a call back, i'm always calling. finally received 2 call backs from 2 different people requesting the title search, which i told them i had already faxed. now i'm talking to someone who is asking for an authorization, which was faxed on 11/20/10. do i have any recourse? i need this deed of reconveyance to refinance so i can get work done on the house which is badly in need of repair. what are my options? how do i get this reconveyance that should have been filed in 2003? hope someone can help me. i'm truly desparate.
Hi vivianchin,

It will be better if you could contact an attorney and let him deal with your lender. Moreover, he will be able to let you know the right steps that you need to take in this regard.

Thanks
