Property Tax in California

Posted on: 03rd Feb, 2009 10:28 am
I've already concluded that I'm going to walk away from my property. Times are getting tough. I'm either going to short sale or foreclosure. If I'm going to do those, do I still have to pay the upcoming property tax that's going to be late after 4/10/09?
Hi guest,

I think you need to pay the property taxes even though you do a short sale or have your home foreclosed. If you're in problem paying the taxes, contact the tax collector's office and find out if they offer a hardship exemption or tax deferral program. In California such programs are available for seniors. But I'm not sure as to people of your age group can avail it.

Good luck
