Hello,
My father and I bought a house together in 2007 in California. He quit-claimed the house to me a couple of years later. He has some unpaid medical bills and the hospital is suing him. Can they put a lien on the house or take it away?
Thank you in advance for your thoughtful answers.

Hi nancyt!
Welcome to forums!
As your father is one of the owners of the property, the hospital authorities can place a lien on the house in order to recover their dues.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Since he transferred the house to you, it is no longer his property from which his creditors can collect. Thus, they cannot put a lien on the property to take it away.
