If you file a dispute and win it with a credit reporting agency, how long does it take to have a positive impact on your score? or will it at all?
I don't think it takes much time and depends on how quickly the item is disputed and the error is removed from the credit report.

from my experience....the change in score was immediate of anything changing in the credit file

That would be great, I just filed a couple of disputes for items that I thought was reported wrong on my credit report and my husbands.

On my husbands under the negative it showed a 30 days late and then under the positive it stated the same bill and stated never late, paid and closed. They should take this negative off right?

not necessarily....if he was late then he was late.
if he wasn't then i suggest disputing it immediately

We were never late on it, it was joint account and it reflects all good on my report, I did file a dispute, I am going to call the creditor and alert them to the bad report. Will the credit reporting agency contact them to verify the information that I disputed.

I think just to be safe I will contact the company and let them know that they will probably be contacted about this, We have been working on our credit for quite sometime. I know that we paid this bill on time every month, hopefully they will get it all straightened out pretty soon. It is a long haul when you are trying to rebuild credit, don't need unneccessary negatives on there to slow down the process, thank you for all your input banker it is much appreciated. I was not sure how they made contact with them.

jbarto...definately call them. recently my husband and I went for a consolidation loan and this happened to us. The bank did ask us about the account and why it was late. Thing is it never was in its 2 year history. My bank let me call the other bank and give them permission to get account info from them. They verified it was never late and went back and corrected the problem. Really was no hassle at all. Of course that could have been because the other bank was helpin out in this matter but I can't see why you wouldn't get the same results if you did this yourself. Let me know how it worked out.

I just got the results back on the disputes that I filed for my husband, nothing for me yet. Anyway, on his it says updated, I went on the credit report and it still says the same thing.

It has under negatives, one payment late, but yet under the positives it shows, never late, account paid and closed. If they updated it wonder why it is still showing under negatives that way? This one negative is going to affect his score right? Should I take another step that I am not aware of in this matter?

I would think it would have some impact on his score. Maybe you should ask that on a new thread since it is a really interesting topic. I would like to know myself what one would do in this situation.

I just think it is in plain english on the credit report under the positives, so why is it aloud to be posted under the negative this way? One blocks out the other.

It does and that is why I can't quite understand why they are listing it like that. Can you call the creditor who reported it as it was?
Posted on: 07th Apr, 2008 11:46 am
Yeah I could call the creditor and will if I can't get it straightened out by filing the dispute, I am hoping that they will see the problem and fix it, right now, I have to see what they are going to do.
