unused credit cards

Will it be wise to close my unused credit cards?
Fidel,

I don't think that will be a good idea to close them.

Hi Fidel,

Angel is correct. You should not straight away cancel any type of credit with a good credit history. Long time good credit history can help you to keep your scores in a strong position.

You may lose points if you close down credit cards with good history. Credit bureaus can't work on your scores if your credits are closed.

So, keep your cards open and be regular with your payments and in that way you can help yourself to maintain a high score.

yeah, i have several credit cards i rarely used neither, but i did not close them. The same applies to some bank account. I just leave it there as the banker told me not to do so, which will be against my favor. Hope this helps.

having an unused bank account benefits nobody, frankly. "the banker" just wants you to remain a customer - did he cite any benefits to you?

Please dont close any unused account by yourself this will hurt your fico score. In this economy though the cc companies might close them for the account not being used. As far as bank account yes this does nothing to your credit so opening them and closing them makes no difference.
