Hello,
I have been divorced since August of last year, and my ex-husband is responsible for the house as per the equitable property divison order. I am the co-applicant on the house, so I know that I am still responsible for it. We are both in the military (active), I am stationed in Korea for 3 years, and he is at Ft. Polk, LA., and the house is in North Carolina. The house is not currently being rented, and is now behind 3 months. Right now the best approach is the deed in lieu, because neither of us can no longer afford to have this on our credit or have a foreclosure for our career's sake. Do you think this is the best approach?

I would try to get rid of it ASAP ...maybe even short sale it. If there is equity in the property then I would try to sell it .
In NC i have seen homes foreclose after 12-13 lates!
