My mother died in 2006 and my father in 2010. My father accrued alot of medical bills and I now have a lien on my parents mobile home. The credit card comapny sued my father in 2007 and froze his bank account, I acted with power of attorny and got the bank freeze lifted because he only got social security and military retirement. As far as I was concerned that it was all over. Then I got notice about a month ago and they have put a lien(19,000) on his mobile home( Virginia) that I live in with my 2 kids. Being an only child they made a will in 1985 leaving me everything. I never put the home in my name because I thought I was protected by the will. It is still in my parents name. What can I do? The mobile home is not even worth $19,000 it was purchased in 1995. The mobile home I believe is personal property.
Hi 3cox?
Yes, if the lender sues the debtor and receives a judgment award, the judgment can be executed against personal or real property owned by the judgment debtor.
