Is it better to pay off the original creditor, to whom you owed the money, and ignore the collection agency? I have one acct that was charged off, sold to a CA, who in turn sold it to another CA. I don't feel I owe the CA anything. I've not been able to pay for 2 years.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Hi,
You should ask this present collection agency to validate the debt by providing necessary proof, you must know if they actually purchased your debt from previous collection agency.
And send your debt validation letter by certified mail, return receipt requested.

Hi Fdr,
Welcome to the forum.
Once your debt is sold off to a collection agency and then resold off to another agency, it's the second agency that is going to be paid and not the original creditor. But make sure that the second collection agency can actually prove with documentation that your loan is sold over to them.
Hope this helps...
God bless you.
