Charge card options to improve credit

Posted on: 26th Mar, 2008 05:50 am
I am trying to find a charge card for me as I want to improve my credit . my score is really very low. Can u suggest some charge card options? One of my credit cards have had a repossession though my income is very good.
try creditcards.com

stay away from premier. I have heard MANY bad things.

BofA has a good 'secure' card. They allow you to put 99 down, and possibly get a 500 credit limit.

once again, banker has stepped to the fore with good information. i have also learned that bank of america has a nice, secured card program. try them out and see what can be done.

another nice alternative is credit unions. most credit unions now offer credit cards, and many will grant secured ones also. generally, also, you will find the interest rate much more favorable than what the banks will charge.

by all means, stay away from the online secured card companies, like first premier. the charges you will incur just to open the account are heinous, in my view, and i agree with banker once again here - MANY, MANY bad things have i heard.

Funny you should mention first premiere. We got suckered into that one. I paid it off and cancelled it. How do you get into a credit union?

for credit unions, i would suggest you do an internet search for some of them in your area. if they have an online presence, they will also usually have the terms of membership posted also. check online, or call them directly if it isn't clear. typically, if they are online, they will also note whether or not they do secured credit cards.

Please be sure to pay any attention to the fine print. If there are any excess fees or things to watch out for you can gaurentee that is where you will find them.

Yes definately the fine print is where they get you, read it all and keep your contract, you never know when you need to refer back to it years done the road, I have found myself in a pickle because I did not keep the original paperwork a few times. goodluck, hope all works out for you.

I use to not keep documents the way I should have. Life has taught me to keep everything. I have become a paperwork pack rat. I have a full filing cabinet ans 4 toted of papers. One never knows when you will need it.

True fireyone, I keep things for a long time before I get rid of them, especially if it has to do with bill collecting. I have every pay off notice that I have ever paid off.

Good because I read nightmare stories about paying debts off then the come back for more. If you don't have the info you have a new battle on your hands
