I have already paid off a request from a collection agency for an unpaid credit card debt. So now can I remove the negative mark from the credit report as I've paid it off?
always try to negotiate for the collection agency to 'pay for deletion'.
since you have already paid..the collection agency may not be willing to delete it. Make sure that they do update it as paid.

if you have a receipt showing your payment, you can forward it yourself to each of the three credit repositories (trans union, experian and equifax). i typically advise my clients to do this (or i will do it for them), as relying on the collection agency or creditor to do it in a timely fashion is not the best way to go.
DIY - do it yourself and you'll know it's done.

Yes but make several copies for yourself and keep them where you know they are. I ended up repaying a debt cause I lost my receipt. The collection was taken on by someone else before I found out the payment didn't credit. The new CA would only accept an original copy of the money order receipt. I sent it. stupid right?
fireyone don't beat yourself up, I think we all make the mistake of thinking okay, paid off now I will never hear from them again, sometimes this is wrong, sometimes the bill may be in the middle of transition from one company to another, they will not take the time to contact each other to let the other know that the bill is paid. It is crap, but they really don't care all they want is your money, money, money.
True and that is why after letting these nonstop phone calls drive me into nervous breakdown mode that I just got mad enough to pick yp the phone this week and flip out on them. It didn't stop them from calling..phone rings as much as ever..but I felt better. I'm not even picking it up anymore. I'm gonna buy a fraking whistle and when they do call blow it.he he he. Probaly a machine anyway. Do you ever notice that when you pick up one of these un known caller calls that the line is silent for like 15 seconds before anyone says anything. I think its the auto dialer thing and when it gets a hit it must send them a signal. I would like to send them a signal.
Sounds like you have a great plan, I like the whistle idea, I have one, I think that is a good use for it. thanks for the idea, I used to use a crow call on them.
LOL I like the crow call idea. I actually answered the one that was coming up 000-000-0000 cause it never stopped. It took about thirty seconds for someone to actually come on the line. It was a place calling to ask if you were upset with todays taxes and price increases (DUH!) Soon as you say yes they want to transfer you to your state rep's office so you can leave a message telling them so. Probaly a good idea but I was so aghgravated with them calling 3-4 times a day that I vented on them. Since I answered that call yesterday...no more unknowns. Agencies like this doesnn't make sense to me. There reason for calling is pretty good but do they know how many people don't pick up unknown calls? Why not just list the number. They would get better response.
I like the really loud whistle idea too, LOL, anything will work I guess, the crow call just happen to be on the table.
I still like the idea you had posted on another site. Haven't refound that post yet to see if you answered. It was the zapper..the one that gets rid of computer dialing companies.
The zapper only works with the computerized calls and you have to pick up the first one so it registers first. I have one and some of the calls still get through.
I just quit picking them up all together. There are so many different places calling in. Election stuff, fundraisers, bill collectors. If its important they will leave a message.
