30 day late payment hurting my score

Posted on: 09th Feb, 2012 02:40 am
I have 2 auto loans. One is paid in full and the other is an open loan which I pay regularly. Recently, while looking at my credit report, I noticed that the first loan, that is PIF has a 30 day late. I call the credit bureau and asked them to remove it as it was paid off. They said they will remove it but it still appears on my credit report. And every time there is an update, my score drops. Should I just request that the entire first loan be deleted from my credit report since they can't seem to get it right? This 30 day late payment is hurting my score...Advice please!!!
Hi Basillica,

If the entire loan is paid off in full, then it will considered as a positive item on your credit report. I don't think it will be a good option to delete the whole item from your credit report. You should contact your credit bureaus and dispute the item with them and get the account status updated.

Take care.

I suggest you contact your original creditor to get this cleared up. The creditor can adjust its reporting to wipe away that 30-day late (or not). How your relationship is with the creditor will be critically important to how they treat your request.

The credit agency can't just wipe it away - they report information that they're sent, and without a correction from the creditor they'll not be able to do as you have requested. (Despite their claim)

If you are sure that you have paid off the loan in full, it must lead to improvement in your credit score. I would suggest you to dispute the negative item afresh.
