My credit score among the 3 bureaus is around 650. I am in the process of completing a settlement with one credit card, and it should be settled and paid off in April of next year. I've already done a passbook loan with two credit unions for about six months. But I'd like to try and get an unsecured credit card to help re-establish my credit. Do you think I will qualify for an unsecured credit card given my credit score? I would use the card to pay for my recurring bills like my cell phone and cable so that I can establish some credit history. Any other advice on how I can raise my score would appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks
Hi vernonw!
Welcome to forums!
As far as I know, you will be able to qualify for an unsecured credit card with the credit score that you have. You should contact the credit card companies and apply for the unsecured credit card.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Why would an unsecured credit card help your credit score more than a secured credit card?
Vernonm,
There are credit cards that you can qualify that are unsecured. Go to Credit.com, they list the different cards based upon credit scores. I remember seeing a section for 640-660.
