Deed to a house

Posted on: 07th Mar, 2009 06:58 am
My husband is buying a house. The mortgage and loan will be in his name and his name only. I have bad credit and still owe money to creditors. So my question is, would it affect him or the house if he puts my name on the deed? Can the creditors find out and take action against it if my name is on the deed?
Most creditors only go as far as having a judgement put against you on your credit.

Not on your homes deed no.

As far as I can understand, your name can be included in the deed but in that case, there are chances that the your creditors can place lien on the property. I would suggest that you should let the property remain in your husband's name. Once you pay off the judgments, you can then include your name in the property deed.
