How good can I expect my credit score to get as long as I have chapter 7 on my report? I filed on 2009.
Hi Silver,
Immediately after a chapter 7 filing and discharge, you will see a huge drop in your credit scores. Your scores will drop by around 200 points. But with time, if you take steps, the scores will start improving. This is irrespective of the fact whether or not the Chapter 7 is mentioned in your credit report.
Take care

Hi Silver!

I agree with Sara. Initially, a Chapter 7 will have severe negative impact on your scores but with time the scores will improve. It will be better if you could take steps in order to improve your scores. chapter 7 bankruptcy hurts your credit score badly. your score gets reduced by around 200 points. in order to improve your score, you can take out secured credit cards and start making payments on time. this will certainly boost your score.
