My husband’s car was repossessed. Presently, that debt for the balance of the car is on my husband’s father’s credit report. How can that be? The debt is in the name of my husband and not his father’s debt. Can we some how get it taken off his credit report? We are making time payments for the balance of the car.
If the car loan is in your husband's name, then it should be reported in your husband's credit report and not his father's credit report. Your husband should contact the original creditor as well as the credit bureaus and ask them to report the account to his credit report.
Hi Visway,
Your husband's father should dispute the item with the credit bureaus and ask them to remove it from his credit report. I guess it will help him in removing the car loan from his credit report.
