I always her about 1.9% or so APR on car commercials if you have good credit. Does anyone know how good your credit has to be? I have about a 730 but I don't have a long credit history and I have no installment loans. Do you think I have a chance of getting that rate?

Hi Pseltman,

Yor credit score is good enough to help you qualify for car loan at a reasonable rate of interest. And, a low APR doesn't mean your interest rate will be low, be it a mortgage or car loan. It can be higher too. A low APR implying a low interest rate is a misconception. Know more... .

Have a talk with those offering car loans regarding what they're looking for in a potential borrower.

I agree with James that you credit score is good and you should be offered reasonable rates and terms.

Your score is really high, you should be able to get a really good rate, but like fireyone says shop around, you should be able to get a super rate. goodluck and keep us posted on what you do.
