My BK was discharged in 2010 and presently have 2 credit cards and 2 store front credit lines. I want to buy a car for my son. So, I’m trying hard to improve my score. Now, though my first mortgage was included in the bankruptcy filing, it is still showing as active. Also, my 2nd loan is showing as revolving credit. Should I have the bank correct the credit report to reflect the 1st and the 2nd mortgage included in the bankruptcy? What else should I do to improve my credit?
Hi Amanda,
If both the mortgages were included in your bankruptcy filing and if you never reaffirmed the loan, then the lender should not report it as active. You should immediately contact your lender and ask him to update the account status correctly. You can check out the given page in order to know some steps to improve your credit scores: http://www.mortgagefit.com/credit-rating/credit-repair.html .
Thanks,

Hi Amanda!
Welcome to forums!
In order to improve your credit, you should make sure that you avoid making late payments on your debts. You should also clear up all your past-due bills asap. Apart from that, you should also pay off your high interest debts before the low interest ones. These steps will help you in improving your credit score.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
