hi there… i had filed chapter 7 bankruptcy which was discharged in 2009. my present credit score is 657. i looked at my credit report recently and found a lot of derogatory items on it. i want to buy a car, and applied for credit. it was denied. what can i do?
Hi Guest,
All the derogatory items that were included in your bankruptcy will remain mentioned for 7 years like any other negative item. You should have taken steps to improve your scores immediately after your bankruptcy filing got discharged. You should now take steps to remove those derogatory items from your credit report.
Thanks,
Jerry

make sincere efforts to pay off whatever monthly financial liabilities you have and avoid closing any old credit accounts. basically, now you should implement the lessons you have learned during the mandatory credit counseling session conducted before filing bankruptcy.
