hello, i recently married.. im in a community property state.. my husband is buying a sole property in another communtiy prop. state... i just found out.. my home has lost so much value that i cannot sell it or short sale it or even get it rented where i live.... what if i file bankruptcy or go into foreclosure ... will this ruin his credit... this is my sole property for 3 and 1/2 years.. ive only been married 6 months...... i do not want anything i do to affect his credit .. thank you .. eva

If you has property in community property state & If you want to do something with your property lender will ask for your spouse. This is the rule of community property state. You have to request your husband for that. Foreclosure & bankrutcy harms your credit score badly.

I don't think your filing bankruptcy for your property would affect your husband's credit in any way. It was your separate property which you owned before marriage. So, the lender cannot come after your husband for the payments.
