Truly free credit score

Many of you are already familiar with freecreditreport.com, which isn't actually free unless you're quick on the trigger and immediately cancel the ongoing monitoring service and fee.

Then there is annualcreditreport.com, which gets you free reports, but doesn't give you scores and the reports aren't merged.

Well I just found my favorite for myself and I'm recommending it to all my clients.

Check out www.creditkarma.com, a free transunion score, no credit card, no subscription. You only get your score and some statistical information, but you don't get a full report of any kind. However, they do allow you to update your score periodically. Very useful to just track your score and watch for a hugh swing that might be indicative of a problem you need to check on.

I'm not affiliated in any way, this is just to get the word out and suggest this product to mortgage customers.
Hi Howard,

It's good that consumers now have a number of options to get access to your credit report and scores. Credit score is an important factor for a consumer and I believe credit scores should be accessible to all consumers free of cost. It's true that creditkarma doesn't allow consumers to get a full credit report, but they can get access to at least their credit score. This no doubt helps consumers a lot in managing their credit and financial health in a better way.

howard, i am in agreement. there are also two other new credit checking sites available. i ran my own credit and wrote a review of each of the three here: http://www.mortgagefit.com/credit/free-profile.html.

they don't give you everything you need, but they can come in handy for someone who simply wants to get the lay of the land.
