How long does it take to gain around 15 points on a fico score? What steps should i take to get the 15 points the fastest?
Hi Cathy, To improve your score by 15 this can be done with in a few months or faster if you just pay your bills on time and pay down your debt over the course of a few months. And dont apply for any new cc or new loans.
if you have credit cards with balances, paying those balances down to as close to zero as you are able will do you a lot of good. if you have collections, charge offs, etc. you'll want to eliminate those, but updating will take a month or more, so if these exist, pay them quickly if possible.
a few weeks to a couple of months is a reasonable time to expect a 15 point jump, depending on what your credit looks like now.
your question isn't easy to answer, and i'm sure you know that. not knowing what you're looking at now, it's almost impossible to tell you what to do for the maximum favorable impact. if you do the above, however, it'll certainly help.
