what is a good credit score number

I want to know what is a good credit score number
Actually excellent credit scores could be classified as starting at 740 based on the loan level pricing adjustments of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Some lenders will actually go higher than 740, however, in order to get their best pricing.

Well their categories don't change, just the criterion the lender decides to base their loan programs on based on the assessed risk factor of what is acceptable to lend money to in today's society.

The funny thing is coming from an analyst background and knowing as much about credit as I do now, it makes me wonder WHY if the credit scoring system is so detailed and adept - lenders don't just base everything off of that for underwriting? Oh yeah I remember! 79% of all credit reports contain inaccuracies and 1 in 4 are so serious that people are denied credit. Sad thing is, most people aren't educated enough about their credit to even realize why they're being denied.

I would agree there are a number of people with various errors on their credit reports. Some are being hurt do to these errors and others are not, such as was when negative information is not being reported which also happens.

What I'd like to know is where are you getting your statistics from that states 25% of people are being denied credit do to inaccuracies? Please provide your source since I don't think it's accurate.

This study was back in 2004. There hasn't been another one done since. But I am positive it is worse. I would bet money there's even inaccuracies and unverifiable information on your credit report.

I literally just met with a couple where the guy had 27 derogatory items on his credit report. There were even a couple of things that should not have been on there that's preventing them from getting a new place where they want their kids to go to school. It's heavy stuff.

A credit score generally ranges from 300 to 850. A score above 700 is considered 'good' because you can get a loan at a good interest rate without any hassle. A score below 700 then means you have to raise it by managing your debts & improving your credit history.
