ok what about hard inquiries

Posted on: 09th Feb, 2010 01:39 pm
how long will they stay on your report ?
You can expect to see them hang around for about 2 years, but after the first they probably aren't affecting your credit scores much at all.

Hi Clayedwards,

Hard inquiries are those that are those which someone else pulls your report. They damage your credit score only by some points. However hard inquiries can stay on your credit report at least up to 2 years, but they do not affect your report or score that much after the first year.

However if you have many hard inquiries listed on your report, that may damage your credit score considerably. Therefore it's advisable to remove the hard inquiries. If you have had no intention to get a new credit card and the hard inquiries may have been done without your permission, you can ask the creditors to remove the inquiries from your credit report. If they do not comply to your request, you can sue them. You can also directly contact the credit bureaus, and dispute the inquiry off your report, if only you are sure that you did not apply for credit.
