Medical collection in CR

Posted on: 24th Sep, 2012 01:10 am
Hi there… I find 2 medical collections with IC Systems reported on my credit report. I can't contact the OC to pay, because it was a hospital that is now closed. They CA haven’t sent us anything. I don't think we owe it because we have always had insurance. Probably something filed incorrectly. My question is how should we go about getting this off his report? Why hasn't IC Systems sent us a bill? These collections occurred early 2011.
Hi Guest,

I feel that you should send debt validation (DV) letter to the collection agency and check out their response.

Thanks

Yes, I am agree with James Hogg. If you find something dubious in your credit report, you have all the right to dispute those. And you need to send debt validation letter to the colection agency (CA).

call ic systems and you pay them, not the hospital.
it is a collection account. you no longer pay the hospital because they sold the debt to ic systems.

it is common that ic sytsems collection show up on credit reports and no one knows abouit it because they never spend the time and money to contcat you--they just wait until you refinance or sell a house.
they purchase thousands of unpaid bills for pennies on the dollar. they know they will get paid eventually. they may call and send letters for very large dollar collections.

it is possible your insurance should have paid.
in my experience, it is almost always for items that insurance did not cover
for example, typically i see ic system collection accounts for the anesthesiologist. everyone thinks insurance covers everything and usally insurance does not cover this.

call ic system. they will tell you what it is for specifically.

You can talk to the insurance company regarding the payments. Just as jveenstra has said, not all of the medical expenses are covered under a policy. So, you can ask about that too. If in any case you find that owe nothing, then you can send a debt validation letter to the collection agency (IC System), through Certified Mail Requesting a Return Receipt.
