Medical debts PIF

Posted on: 21st Jan, 2013 12:10 am
Hello… I have a recent medical collection for $2500 and I want to pay. I sent a PFD to CA for full payment with no response from them. I called them today and asked if they were considering? And they said all they could do was update to Paid in Full. I told them I did not agree with debt so I would have to reconsider my options. So my question is should I pay the CA and then dispute the validity or just dispute first? My thought is once paid they may not respond or validate.
Hi Guest,

You should send them a debt validation letter and check out whether or not they really own the debt. If they validate the debt, then you can pay off the loan and then request for deleting the negative item from your credit report.

Take care

Go for debt validation as it's one of the standard processes that need to be followed. After that when you're sure of the debt that has been claimed, try paying it off.
