Can a judment be placed against you if you cannot afford to pay the minimum payment but still send the credit cards something monthly?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!
Hi Debi,
If you're unable to pay the minimum payment on your credit cards but send a lower amount than that, the creditor may not accept your payments. This will make your credit card payments delinquent. Once you're delinquent, the lender can file a lawsuit and get a judgment against you.
Thanks

Is delinquent when it is 30 days past due?
How long is it before a judment is placed?
Hi Debi!
Welcome to forums!
If you're 30 days past due, your account will be considered as delinquent and the creditor will report it to the credit bureaus. If you're more than 3 months delinquent on your payments, the creditor can file a lawsuit and get a judgment against you.

Thank you so much for the replies:)
If you are unable to make the required payment, it's far more beneficial to contact the creditor directly first, so you can discuss it. They may be able to work out a situation for you that will allow you to make payments at the lower level. Creditors in these times are far more amenable to workout situations than in years past - all you have to do is ask.
