Hi there… in my credit report, 2 collections are mentioned. Both are paid but will not come off till 2014, I have been approved for a fha loan. There is another loan I think called a conventional loan, which I do not have to pay for the extra fees of a fha loan. Is there any way to get these paid collections off early? Can I try to dispute them or will that hurt when I buy in December? The lender says that they still hurt my credit even they are old.
Hi SOS,
You can contact the creditor and request him to remove the negative item from your credit report. It will be the creditor's discretion whether or not he will consider your request.
Thanks

Hi SOS!
Welcome to forums!
Any negative item will remain in your credit report for 7 years. Disputing them may not be of much help. However, it will be better if you could negotiate with the lender and try to get it removed from your credit report as James has said.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
