lien on property

Posted on: 14th Jun, 2010 02:31 pm
Can my parents put a lien on my house, so they can get their money back before my husband has a chance to spend it all?
Hi sandyj,

Yes, your parents can put a lien on your house provided they win a judgment against you. Not only your parents, anybody can put lien against your property if you owe them money. However, they will have to first file a lawsuit against you, and win that to put lien against your property.

Thanks,

Sandra

The UCC-1 is a short, simple form filed with the appropriate state or county filing
