Will my dead parents home forclosure affect my credit

Posted on: 07th Aug, 2009 02:10 pm
my parents died. they still owed money on their house. they willed the house to all 5 of their children. None of us wanted the house. None of knew that my sister who was living in the house was not making the mortgage payments. The house is now in foreclosure. will this effect my credit? I am listed as a defendant on the forecloser paperwork. How can I be responsible for a debt I did not make? I did not co sign a loan for my parents and I am not on the deed to the house.
Hi, If you are not co signed on the loan, Then No i dont think this will affect your credit.

Luckily for you, no. Since you did not co-sign the mortgage loan, then your credit rating will not be affected. If you are still uncertain, order your credit report and check it. It is only the items and transactions shown in your report that will affect your score. If the mortgage loan isn't on it, then you can rest assure that your credit will remain as it is.
