Well, BofA closed my checking account which had a negative balance on it. I'm also pretty sure that they reported me to Chexsystem. Although the account is closed, can they still charge me overdraft and any other related fees? I heard that a paid written off account is just as bad as an unpaid one on my credit report. Should I pay and ask them to remove the listing?
Hi Maggii,
If the account is closed, then as far as I know, your creditor won't be able to charge you any overdraft and other related fees. If you wish to pay it off and get it removed from your credit report, then you should try to sign a pay for delete agreement with them. If you don't do so, the creditor may not delete the item from your credit report even though you pay it off.
Take care.

Hi Maggii!
Welcome to forums!
Yes, it is true that if your account has been closed down by the creditor, then he won't be able to add any extra fees or charges on that account. If you have paid off the account in full, it will be better if you could negotiate with your creditor and ask him to delete the account from your credit report.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
