On my credit report, it shows that a car loan of mine was included in my bankruptcy (dismissed in 2007). This is incorrect as I was keeping the car. And then the loan ended up being paid off by my insurance company due to a car accident. I've disputed this with the credit bureau but they won't remove it unless the lender ok's it. Eventhough the lender's record shows that the car was paid off, they won't ok it since unbeknownst to me, the lawyer I used never contacted them to let them know that I was keeping the car. Any advice on how I can correct this will be greatly appreciated as this is reflecting negatively on my credit report. Thanks!!
Welcome ylvu,
As the credit bureau would require a permission from the lender's end, you'll have to negotiate with the lender in this regard. If the lender contacts the credit bureau and asks them to remove the negative items from your credit report, then it would be removed from your credit file.
