My husband and I are moving to CT and would like to re establish our credit and lives. Currently we are both employed and need to repair our credit BADLY! Where do we start? How can we go from bad credit to ok credit in 9 months? We desperately need a home but our credit is shot! We pay $1000 in rent which we could easily pay on a mortgage but have been unsuccessful in fixing the first problem, CREDIT!
There are a lot of things you can do to raise your scores and improve your credit. Do not speak to one of those companies you hear on the radio or TV. Contact one of the qualified loan officers on this site. We can help guide you in improving your credit.
Probably you can start here first

Mr & Mrs P...to be perfectly frank, 9 months might not be sufficient, but that really depends on precisely where you are today. i've seen score improvements of over 100 points in the space of 12-13 months - one of my clients did that and bought her first home as a result.
what your first step needs to be is to see precisely where you stand - credit score and exactly what creditors are owed and how much. by paying off (or settling with) these creditors you'll begin the road back to a higher score. you'll also want (need) to re-establish some favorable credit with existing accounts, if you have them; or by opening a couple of small and new accounts.
getting your credit report to review is the first step.
since this might take longer than you are hoping, you'll want to be prepared to rent when you get here - hopefully, that won't be for a long time.
