I need help. I have found that there is an alleged utility bill in my name which has been sent to collections. I have found that the CA has reported two different amounts to the credit report. I need to know whether I should contact the OC for copies of the last few bills that they say are mine or is there a better way to go about finding out the amounts.
Hi Volvo,
I feel it will be a good option to contact your original creditor (OC) and get to know the exact debt amount. However, as the debt account has been already charged off, there are high chances that the original creditor may not tell you the exact debt amount. They may ask you to contact the collection agency (CA) to know the debt amount.
Take care.

Hi Volvo,
You can even contact the CA (collection agency) in order to know what the exact debt amount is. I agree with Sara that as the OC has already charged off the debt account, they may not let you know the exact debt amount.
