if an unpaid account that appears on your credit report is sold, then sold again, should your credit report it as 3 delinquent accounts?
They should not be doing this, and I believe it's against the FCRA
You need to notify the other agencies that no longer have it to remove it from your credit report
This is a very common thing that happens on your CR

Hi Dotspottty,
I don't think that it's fair to report one delinquent account as 3, though it has been sold for 2times. You should report this to the FCRA.

as eric noted, this happens frequently...the first lender simply logs it as a charge off and subsequently neglects to report again. usually, you'll be able to notice a date last reported that is quite stale. sending a simple letter to the credit reporting agencies pointing out the discrepancy can do you some good also. they'll check with the creditors and if they find out that the information needs to be eliminated, they'll do it.
