I was doing an internship at a school for completion of my masters degree. Being green at paying taxes, I didn't turn in a W-2 form in 2007. I got a letter from the IRS and they said I owed them $700. I am just sick about this because it was a stupid mistake on my part and now I am afraid it will ruin my credit score. Can you give me any guidance here - I have always worked hard to have a good credit score and now I am very worried - I'm a single female, age 26
Hi lindahunerdosse!
Welcome to forums!
In my opinion, it would be better if you could pay off $700 to the IRS. This will help you in keeping your credit clean. Alternatively, you can contact a tax expert and take his opinion in this regard.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

I think you can contact IRS explaining your issue and pay the owned money back as soon as possible .I think they will give you a chance and your credit score will not be harmed. Good luck!

Suggest you to call IRS and settle any money you owe before this gets in to a public record.
