how can i get a copy of my credit report?
Hi Lisa,
Welcome to MortgageFit forum.
You can get a free credit report from any of the 3 US Credit Bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union.) once a year, as instructed by the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) which is the nation?s consumer protection agency enforces the FRCA with respect to the Credit Bureaus. To receive your credit report, you need to provide the Bureau with your name, address, Social Security Number, date of birth and your previous address, in case you have shifted your residence in the past two years. You may also have to provide the Bureau with confidential information such as your monthly mortgage payment.
Looking forward to receive your feedback.
Regards
Jessica.

I have applied for mortgage but got rejected because of poor FICO score.is there any way i can improve it?
Hi Guest,
You can definitely improve your FICO score in order to qualify for the mortgage the next time. You should first get your credit report checked at least once a year by the 3 credit bureaus (Experian, TransUnion and Equifax) to ensure a fair review of your credit report. You should start paying off any existing debt in time. Moreover you should pay down high interest accounts and close them to ensure a good FICO score. But it is necessary that you keep at least 3 accounts open.
It is better that you don't apply for too many credits at a time. You should see that the balances in your credit card are kept to a lower value that is up to one half of the credit card's limit.
If necessary you should pay down your credit card debts by taking loans from an outside source like savings, a personal loan or any other credit card.
We hope that this information will fulfill your needs.
Please let us know if you have any other query.

You can get a copy of your credit report from each of the three credit bureaus namely, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Each of these bureaus provide a copy of your credit report for free once every year giving you the chance to conduct a free credit check for three times. It is suggested that you do not order your reports all at once and to order one of them once every four months. If you wish to check your credit reports more frequently, they are available for a price.
