What is the possibility that I can get refinanced with my credit the way it is now? My credit is poor due to the divorce I am currently going through. I have been making the payments for the house. Does it help me at all that the payments have been made on time for past 6 years? My husband is 1st I am secondary. He is trying to sell the house in the next few months. However I want to keep it for the stablility of my kids. How can I do this?
Hi, Hreynol
Nothing will go in vain, you have been regular in making payments, it will help you in getting the loan.
Its right that credit do plays an important role but not always as there are many lenders in the industry who offer loans on poor credit with resonable interest.
Start looking for some lenders in your locality. You can also join our community, mortgagefir has got lenders community as well. They can also offer some kind of help.
Thanks

Hi Hreynol,
Welcome to MortgageFit Forums.
As Adonis said that your record of making regular payments may help you in getting the loan refinanced in your name.
Since you are going through a divorce I shall advise you to get things settled at the time of the divorce only. Such things if not settled at the time of divorce may create problems in future.
Consult your divorce attorney and get his advice on what best can be done to have the house with you and get the mortgage refinanced in your name. Under these circumstances the judge can give permission to the custodial spouse to stay in the home with the children. So, you may be allowed to remain in the house and your husband may be stopped to sell the house until your kids get stable.
So, don't lose hope. There is every possibility to get justice for you. Consult your attorney and discuss the whole issue with him and he will help you in this matter.
God bless you.
