First-Time Homebuyers Credit

Posted on: 27th Oct, 2010 04:31 pm
A couple of days ago I received an IRS paper that shows I received $3,750, which is only half of what I actually received. My wife and I are both listed as owner of the house. I assume we are joint owners then. Would the IRS have split First-Time Homebuyers Credit between us?
Hi Bendo,

As far as I can understand, the first time home buyer's tax credit will be divided between you and your wife as both of you are the joint owners of the property. in my opinion, you should contact the IRS and they will be able to clarify the matter in a better way.
