FIRST TIME HOME BUYERS CREDIT

Posted on: 02nd Jan, 2010 05:35 pm
I recently purchased a home that my father co-signed for me. I have owned a different home in the past 3 yrs so i know i don't qualify for first time home buyers tax credit, but my fathers present home has been paid for at least 15 yrs. can he get the tax credit since his name is also on my new home mortgage.
in order to qualify you must not have owned a home in the past 3 years - you did, so you're not qualified.

your father co-signed. this is not the same as being a buyer. not only that, he owns a home now.

even in dreams a person who owns a home currently could not be considered as a first time homebuyer.

no and no.
