Housing Tax Credit

Posted on: 18th May, 2009 10:10 am
My fiance and I planning to buy a house this year. We were planning to have both our names on the contract (and hence on the deed). I was planning to take mortgage on my name alone. Will either us still be able to claim the government's Housing Credit of $8000 (we filed taxes separately)? Is anyone aware of a link on the IRS website that clarifies this scenario?

Thanks in advance.
If you are a First Time Home Buyer you sure do qualify for the credit. I have included a link which should help you. I hope this helps...
