Tax Credit

Posted on: 04th Mar, 2009 03:19 pm
In January 2009 I was given a house with the deed on my name. The house was bought by my parents and their names are on the mortgage, however my name is listed as the primary resident on the deed of the house. I have never owned a house before. Do I qualify for the 8000 tax credit?
Hi Guest,

As you are the primary resident of a property, you will not be considered as a first time homebuyer when you try to purchase another property. Thus, you will not be qualifying for first time homebuyers tax credit.

Thanks
