My husband bought our house last December 2008. We have now added me to the deed I am not on the loan. So can we claim the tax credit as first time buyers? We both own a home in our names but now we own a home in both of our names.
Hi laurasherman!
Welcome to forums!
Obama government has extended the tax credit for homebuyers. Existing homeowners can also claim the tax credit. You can claim the tax credit on your federal income tax return by completing the IRS Form 5405 to determine their tax credit amount and get to know whether you qualify for it.
