Jessica I found a forum you had on "Deed in Lieu". We have a home in Florida we purchased in 2001. Last year I had to change jobs and took a 30k income loss and we had to move to Texas for work. Our home is sitting empty and we have had it on the market now for almost a year with no bites at all. Our agent is telling us things look bleak. We have run through most of our savings trying to keep things current. I have talked to the lender and cannot get any help or good advice. We are paying our mortgage but things are getting very tight and not sure how much longer we'll be able to do this. What are some of our options? Is the "deed in lieu" something we would qualify for? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Hi Diverdan,
If you're delinquent on your mortgage payments and want to get rid of the property, then you'll be able to qualify for a deed in lieu of foreclosure. You should contact your lender and apply for it. The lender will go through your financial situation and will inform you whether or not he will consider your request.
Thanks,
Jerry
