A realtor has ask since the home being listed was used as a meth lab until the owner was busted. Should this be disclosed to a potential buyer?
In CA, yes, must be disclosed. Not sure about your state, but general rule of thumb, anything that you think should be disclosed, or if you see red flags, they should be disclosed. Your realtor will know your states disclosure laws. Failing to disclose is not good...
Hi rick,
As far as I know, you should disclose that your property has a Meth Lab to your buyer when you're selling off the property.
Thanks

Hiding any such information would be distasteful, wrong-headed, despicable, delusional, irresponsible, illegal (hopefully everywhere), nasty, rude...and on and on.
I'd love to haul our my thesaurus to provide more descriptions, but I think you get my drift.

Hello, Disclosure is required because it greatly effects the value of the house and the health and well being of the occupants. My company provides meth testing and decontaminations throughout the US and we have seen many cases where the buyer has sued the sellers realtor for failing to disclose. This is a serious issue. The fee to test these properties is usually around $1500. Very small fee for the peace of mind. Just because a property was busted as a meth lab does not necessarily mean that the house is contaminated. Always have the house tested if there is a shadow of a doubt. I can be reached 24/7 at 866-99-DECON. I offer free phone consultations. Good luck.
Having just read about someone who purchased a home that had been a meth lab - unbeknownst to the buyer - I have to say that it's a most beneficial idea to investigate the possibilities and have a home tested.
